Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Okuma CNC lathes and machining centers, Mazak CNC turning centers, and Haas CNC vertical and horizontal mills and lathes.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining processes and requirements.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment for machining tasks.
  • Adjust machine settings and parameters to achieve desired tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience as a set-up machinist in the avionic or aerospace industry.
  • Proficient in the set-up and operation of Okuma CNC lathes and machining centers, Mazak CNC turning centers, and Haas CNC vertical and horizontal mills and lathes.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and fixture design.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with programming CNC machines using CAM software.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
