Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using software such as PC-DMIS or Calypso to ensure high precision in medical device manufacturing.
- Apply knowledge of metrology and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to accurately measure and analyze components.
- Use CAD/CAM software, including NX or Catia, to create and modify drawings and models for measurement programs.
- Operate and maintain Bridge CMMs and Multisensor CMMs, ensuring equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Work closely with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to develop measurement strategies for new products and improvements to existing products.
- Analyze measurement data and provide detailed reports to support manufacturing and quality decisions.
- Train and assist other CMM operators or technicians in best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in the healthcare and medical device sectors.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5-7 years’ experience in CMM programming within the healthcare or medical device manufacturing industries.
- Proficiency in CMM programming using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar software.
- Strong background in metrology and a solid understanding of GD&T principles.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software, such as NX or Catia, for creating and modifying drawings and models.
- Hands-on experience with Bridge CMMs and Multisensor CMMs.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and quality systems applicable to the medical device industry, such as FDA regulations and ISO 13485.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in CMM programming or metrology.
- Experience in a regulated environment, specifically with FDA-regulated products.
- Advanced training in CAD/CAM software.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff.
