Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and program Wire EDM and Sinker EDM machines to produce high-precision components for automotive, aerospace, and medical applications.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to set up and program EDM machines accurately.
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on EDM equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and manufacturing teams to develop and optimize machining processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct quality inspections of machined components using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with stringent industry standards.
  • Document process parameters and outcomes to facilitate continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience operating and programming EDM machines, specifically Wire EDM and Sinker EDM, in the automotive, aerospace, or medical industries.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and process optimization for EDM.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct precision measurements and quality inspections of machined parts.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and quality control processes relevant to the automotive, aerospace, and medical sectors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming EDM machines.
  • Knowledge of materials commonly used in the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries, such as titanium, aluminum, and specialized alloys.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
  • Proven track record of improving machining processes and efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
