Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect precision aerospace components, ensuring they meet strict industry standards.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CMM programs for various inspection tasks using software platforms such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately measure and assess components.
  • Work with Horizontal Arm CMMs and/or Gantry CMMs to perform inspections and measurements.
  • Utilize AutoCAD for drafting and reviewing component specifications and tolerances.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot issues and improve product quality.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspection results and processes.
  • Implement and adhere to quality assurance protocols and procedures.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or certification in a relevant technical field preferred (e.g., Mechanical Engineering Technology, Quality Control).

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a CMM Operator within the aerospace, space, or defense industries.
  • Proficiency in using CMM software platforms such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with Horizontal Arm CMMs and/or Gantry CMMs.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing and drafting component specifications.
  • In-depth understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) as per ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in CMM operation or programming.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
