Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Okuma CNC lathes and machining centers, Mazak CNC turning centers, and Haas CNC vertical and horizontal mills and lathes.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining processes and requirements.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment for machining tasks.
- Adjust machine settings and parameters to achieve desired tolerances and surface finishes.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3-5 years of experience as a set-up machinist in the avionic or aerospace industry.
- Proficient in the set-up and operation of Okuma CNC lathes and machining centers, Mazak CNC turning centers, and Haas CNC vertical and horizontal mills and lathes.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and fixture design.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with programming CNC machines using CAM software.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
