Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate 5-axis machining centers to produce complex components for medical devices and equipment with high precision.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to ensure accurate machining and conformity to specifications.
- Select and set up appropriate tooling for machining operations, considering the unique requirements of materials used in the medical and healthcare industries, such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, Cobalt-Chromium Alloys, Plastics and Polymers, ceramics, and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP).
- Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust parameters and setups to optimize manufacturing processes, and ensure the highest quality of finished products.
- Collaborate with the engineering and quality assurance teams to refine product designs for manufacturability and adherence to industry standards.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of machining operations, including process parameters, adjustments made, and inspection results, to ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory standards.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Mill Machinist, specifically within the medical device or healthcare equipment manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in operating 5-axis machining centers and in-depth knowledge of CNC programming.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Comprehensive understanding of tooling selection, setup, and machining parameters for a wide range of materials relevant to medical device manufacturing.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Familiarity with quality control practices and regulatory standards specific to the medical and healthcare industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming and optimizing machining operations.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and other quality management systems relevant to the medical device industry.
- Proven track record of enhancing productivity and reducing waste in a manufacturing environment.
