Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and program Wire EDM and Sinker EDM machines to produce high-precision components for automotive, aerospace, and medical applications.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to set up and program EDM machines accurately.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on EDM equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with the engineering and manufacturing teams to develop and optimize machining processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
- Conduct quality inspections of machined components using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with stringent industry standards.
- Document process parameters and outcomes to facilitate continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2+ years of experience operating and programming EDM machines, specifically Wire EDM and Sinker EDM, in the automotive, aerospace, or medical industries.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and process optimization for EDM.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct precision measurements and quality inspections of machined parts.
- Familiarity with industry standards and quality control processes relevant to the automotive, aerospace, and medical sectors.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming EDM machines.
- Knowledge of materials commonly used in the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries, such as titanium, aluminum, and specialized alloys.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
- Proven track record of improving machining processes and efficiencies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
