Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Program CNC machines, including Tsugami and Star Swiss Screw Machines with Fanuc style controls, as well as Haas mill machines, to produce high-precision medical device components.
- Conduct complex multi-axis CNC set-ups and operations, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop and refine machining processes for medical devices, focusing on materials such as Nitinol, titanium, and stainless steel.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to accurately program CNC machines.
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures, adhering to ISO 13485, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining or programming issues, optimizing production workflows for efficiency and quality.
- Document programming and machining procedures, contributing to knowledge sharing and best practices within the team.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements affecting CNC machining in the medical device sector.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in CNC programming, machining, or related field preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 7-10 years’ experience in CNC programming, specifically within the healthcare and medical device manufacturing industries.
- Proficient in programming and operating Tsugami and Star Swiss Screw Machines with Fanuc style controls, as well as Haas mill machines.
- Skilled in the set-up and operation of multi-axis CNC machines with an advanced level of complexity.
- Strong understanding of materials used in medical devices, particularly Nitinol, titanium, and stainless steel.
- Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements relevant to medical device manufacturing, such as ISO 13485 and ISO 9001.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
