Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and repair precision molds for the production of consumer electronics and medical devices.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop mold specifications and ensure compatibility with product requirements.
- Operate CNC machines, EDM machines, and other toolroom equipment to create and modify molds.
- Conduct thorough inspections and tests of molds to ensure quality and functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mold performance and production efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of mold maintenance, modifications, and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to production teams during the molding process.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance mold design and fabrication processes.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification or associate degree in tool and die making, mold making, or a related field is preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of experience as a Mold Maker in the consumer electronics and/or medical industries.
- Proficient in the use of CNC machines, EDM machines, and other toolroom equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mold design principles, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and programming.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 and other relevant quality standards in the medical device industry.
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements and cost-saving measures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
