Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Transportation Design: Utilize your expertise in engineering principles to design and develop transportation infrastructure, including road and highway systems, as well as drainage projects.
- CAD Software Utilization: Utilize Microstation and/or Autocad Civil 3D CAD software to perform geometric alignments and generate detailed design drawings for transportation projects.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards governing transportation infrastructure design and construction.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of design plans and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to understand project objectives, provide updates on project progress, and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Required Skills and Experience
- Valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California or Texas State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
- Proficiency in Microstation and/or Autocad Civil 3D CAD software for transportation infrastructure design and geometric alignments.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices related to transportation design, including geometric design, drainage design, and roadway engineering.
- Experience working on transportation projects in Texas and California, with a focus on road and highway systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience working with transportation agencies and departments in either Texas or California.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools used in transportation engineering, such as HEC-RAS, AutoTURN, and Synchro.
- Knowledge of sustainable transportation design principles and practices.
- Experience with project management software for tracking project progress and managing project documentation.
