Our client has asked us to help them staff a Propulsion Engineer for an opening at their company. They are a pioneering aerospace company specializing in the design, construction, and operation of medium-to-heavy lift reusable rockets. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimization of propulsion systems for reusable launch vehicles, focusing on engine performance, reliability, and reusability.
- Apply engineering fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics to design and analyze propulsion components and subsystems, including combustion devices and turbomachinery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate propulsion systems with overall vehicle architecture and ensure compatibility with customer payload requirements.
- Conduct and oversee engine testing operations, including data analysis and interpretation to validate performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and engineering reports.
- Drive continuous innovation in propulsion technology to enhance vehicle performance and reduce costs.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of industry experience in developing engines for launch vehicles.
- Strong working knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and propulsion principles.
- Experience in complex engineering system development and/or test environments.
- Proficiency in the design, analysis, and testing of propulsion system components and subsystems.
- Familiarity with fluid components such as valves and instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with reusable rocket propulsion systems.
- Knowledge of advanced propulsion technologies, such as liquid oxygen/methane engines or electric propulsion.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and projects.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
