Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement advanced signal processing algorithms for wireless communication systems.
- Perform system-level simulations and analysis to optimize performance across various platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate signal processing solutions into comprehensive system architectures.
- Utilize MATLAB, Python, and C/C++ for algorithm development, simulation, and deployment.
- Conduct performance validation and testing using tools like GNU Radio, LabVIEW, and RF measurement equipment.
- Analyze and mitigate issues related to noise, interference, and signal degradation in real-world environments.
- Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and testing protocols.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and standards in wireless communications, such as 5G/6G, IoT, and SDR (Software Defined Radio).
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (required).
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Signal Processing, Wireless Communications, or a related discipline (preferred).
Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of experience in signal processing and wireless communication systems.
- Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, and Python for algorithm development and data analysis.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ for embedded systems and real-time processing.
- Deep understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) concepts including filtering, modulation/demodulation, FFT, and error correction techniques.
- Hands-on experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms such as USRP, Ettus Research, or similar.
- Familiarity with communication protocols and standards (e.g., LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
- Experience with RF hardware components and RF system design principles.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they pertain to secure communications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FPGA development and HDL programming (VHDL/Verilog).
- Proficiency in LabVIEW, GNU Radio, and other signal analysis tools.
- Familiarity with cloud-based signal processing frameworks and big data analytics.
- Background in machine learning techniques applied to signal classification and anomaly detection.
- Active security clearance or eligibility for clearance, particularly for defense-related projects.
- Experience in project management and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
