We are seeking an experienced Power Supply Design Engineer to lead the development of high-power DC-DC converters for RF and microwave assemblies. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects that shape the future of technology and national defense.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of high-power DC-DC converters, including isolated and non-isolated topologies such as Buck, Boost, Forward, Flyback, Half-Bridge, and Full-Bridge converters.
  • Perform all aspects of power supply design, including:
    • System power distribution and module-level design.
    • Schematic capture, analog circuit design, and component selection.
    • Circuit derating, analysis, and worst-case analysis (WCA).
  • Define and implement methods to meet EMI/EMC requirements, ensuring product compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct design verification testing and troubleshooting of subassemblies to the component level using bench-level test equipment.
  • Prepare and present detailed engineering design concepts to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Estimate task schedules and budgets, ensuring on-time and cost-effective project delivery.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 9 years of experience in power supply design, with at least 4+ years of hands-on development experience in isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converter topologies (e.g., Buck, Boost, Forward, Flyback, Half-Bridge, Full-Bridge).
  • Expertise in analog circuit design and familiarity with detailed power supply design methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC requirements, including testing and compliance methods.
  • Proficient in performing worst-case analysis (WCA) and system-level power distribution design.
  • Experience troubleshooting subassemblies to the component level.
  • Proficiency with bench-level test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present complex engineering concepts to teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on projects within the defense or aerospace sectors.
  • Familiarity with popular design tools and software, such as:
    • Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
    • Simulation tools like PSIM, LTspice, or MATLAB/Simulink for power circuit modeling.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-704 standards for EMI/EMC compliance in military applications.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to lead technical teams effectively.
