We are an engineering and IT recruitment firm staffing a Network Security Specialist for a client of ours. Our client is a global leader at the intersection of automotive innovation and clean energy solutions. This vertically integrated company designs, manufactures, and sells battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), home-to-grid-scale battery storage systems, solar energy solutions (panels and roof tiles), and associated software and charging infrastructure. As their technologies grow increasingly connected and data-driven, cybersecurity and network protection are foundational to their mission. This company’s network infrastructure spans production facilities, energy storage sites, vehicle software platforms, and cloud-connected consumer devices, making cybersecurity a critical element of both operations and customer trust.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Network Security Specialist to lead and enhance the security architecture across global networks supporting manufacturing operations, energy systems, EV connectivity, and enterprise infrastructure. The role blends traditional network security expertise with forward-looking strategies for securing IoT, cloud, and industrial control networks in a clean tech environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and maintain network security infrastructure across enterprise, cloud, and OT (operational technology) environments
- Administer and configure next-generation firewalls (NGFWs), VPNs, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and secure web gateways
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and threat modeling in accordance with NIST 800-53, NERC CIP, and ISO/IEC 27001 standards
- Develop and enforce zero trust security frameworks, microsegmentation, and secure access strategies for internal and remote users
- Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to secure CI/CD pipelines, API gateways, and cloud-based microservices (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Implement real-time network traffic analysis, anomaly detection, and behavioral analytics using tools such as Wireshark, Splunk, Tenable, Snort, or CrowdStrike
- Secure and monitor vehicle-to-cloud communications, V2G (vehicle-to-grid) interactions, and embedded control systems within smart energy devices
- Write and maintain documentation including security architecture diagrams, policy guidelines, and incident response protocols
- Support compliance efforts related to GDPR, SOX, FIPS 140-2, and automotive cybersecurity regulations (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434)
- Act as subject matter expert and escalation point for cybersecurity incidents, forensics, and audits
