Typical Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Network Administrator to maintain, secure, and optimize the company’s growing enterprise network infrastructure. This position plays a key role in enabling high-performance engineering operations, secure IP management, and collaboration between cross-functional design teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Administer day-to-day operations of LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments across engineering, testing, and prototyping labs
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and VPN gateways (e.g., Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, Meraki, Palo Alto)
- Ensure secure communication between on-premise development teams and cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, Azure) through proper routing, firewall, and identity management policies
- Proactively monitor network performance, availability, and capacity using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, or Nagios
- Conduct patch management, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediation in line with CIS Benchmarks and NIST 800-53 standards
- Manage directory services and authentication infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP
- Support backup and disaster recovery strategies for network infrastructure in collaboration with IT security and DevOps teams
- Maintain secure remote access for hybrid or off-site teams through SSL VPN, IPSec tunnels, or Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)
- Document network architecture, IP schema, asset inventories, and access control procedures
- Provide Tier II/III support to engineering users for connectivity and network access issues
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline
- Technical certifications and/or relevant associate degree considered with sufficient experience
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer in a medium-to-large enterprise setting
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, NAT, VPN, Subnetting, and Layer 2/3 network design
- Proficient in administering network hardware such as:
- Cisco Catalyst / Nexus switches
- Ubiquiti UniFi equipment
- Fortinet firewalls or Palo Alto NGFWs
- Familiarity with cloud networking, especially with AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, and cloud access gateways
- Solid understanding of network segmentation, 802.1x, and role-based access controls for enhanced security
- Demonstrated ability to manage network performance and resolve bottlenecks using packet analyzers (e.g., Wireshark)
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as:
- CompTIA Network+, Security+
- Cisco CCNA / CCNP
- Fortinet NSE 4-7
- Microsoft MCSA / Azure Network Engineer Associate
- Experience supporting engineering and R&D network infrastructure (CAD/CAE software license servers, high-performance file servers, or virtual environments for tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB)
- Knowledge of endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, Jamf, or SCCM)
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA) and SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) models
- Exposure to DevOps or IoT development environments, including Linux-based edge devices
