We are an engineering, design and IT staffing agency recruiting a Hardware Engineer for our client. Our client is a leader in the aerospace and defense industry that specializes in developing state-of-the-art software-defined compact/ground radios, cryptographic and cyber-secure systems, and advanced avionics for processing, networking, and data storage. 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Embedded Hardware Design: Design and develop embedded hardware systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and client specifications.
  • PCB Design: Create and optimize printed circuit board (PCB) layouts using industry-standard software tools.
  • High-Speed Design: Develop high-speed digital designs, ensuring signal integrity and performance.
  • Interface Familiarity: Work with interfaces such as Rocket I/O, Ethernet, and LVDS to ensure seamless integration and communication between components.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes to validate designs, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary improvements.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation, including schematics, layout files, and test reports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, systems engineers, and project managers, to ensure project success.
  • Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in hardware engineering, specifically in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Embedded Hardware Design: Proven experience in designing embedded hardware systems.
  • PCB Design: Proficiency in PCB design using tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics.
  • High-Speed Design: Strong understanding of high-speed digital design principles and practices.
  • Interface Knowledge: Familiarity with Rocket I/O, Ethernet, and LVDS interfaces.
  • Software Tools: Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and Signal Integrity (SI) tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified IPC Designer (CID) or similar.
  • Industry Standards: Knowledge of industry standards such as MIL-STD, DO-254, and IPC standards.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management or leading engineering teams.
  • Security Clearance: Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
