We are recruiting a Cloud Architect for a client of ours that specializes in developing scalable cloud-based solutions that improve patient care, streamline operations, and enhance data security for healthcare providers. As a Cloud Architect, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud environments that meet the highest HIPAA, HITECH, and SOC 2 compliance standards.

This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and develop high-availability architectures that support mission-critical healthcare applications.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Cloud Strategy & Architecture

  • Design, build, and manage cloud-based infrastructure for secure, scalable, and high-performance healthcare applications.
  • Develop and enforce cloud security best practices to comply with HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2 regulations.
  • Work with engineering teams to create high-availability and disaster recovery strategies using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment

  • Architect, implement, and maintain containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization to enhance performance and reduce costs.

Healthcare Data Management & Security

  • Ensure FHIR, HL7, and DICOM data exchange standards are implemented for seamless interoperability.
  • Implement data encryption, identity & access management (IAM), and zero-trust security models.
  • Support data lake and analytics solutions for AI-driven healthcare insights.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with DevOps engineers, software developers, and security teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Lead cloud migration efforts for legacy healthcare applications, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving healthcare compliance requirements.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Five to seven years of experience in cloud architecture, deployment, and administration in a healthcare or regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Experience with security frameworks, including NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and HITRUST.
  • Strong understanding of FHIR, HL7, DICOM, and healthcare data exchange protocols.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps methodologies, and DevSecOps best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Experience with serverless computing, including AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, or Google Cloud Functions.
  • Knowledge of big data and AI/ML tools for healthcare analytics such as Apache Spark, Databricks, TensorFlow, or AWS SageMaker.
  • Experience with network security, zero-trust architectures, and compliance auditing tools.
  • Experience working in multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
