About the Role
A well-established aerospace/defense precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Thread Roll Operator to join their team. This role involves setting up and operating thread rolling machines to produce fasteners to exact specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and hands-on experience with traditional thread rolling equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate thread rolling machines to produce threaded fasteners according to engineering specifications.
- Select, install, and adjust tooling, dies, cutters, feed mechanisms, and other machine components for efficient production.
- Adjust machine controls to ensure synchronization of stock feeding, threading, and ejection processes.
- Load SEMS components (washers) into the equipment when required.
- Perform in-process inspections and verify part dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools.
- Modify or regrind thread roll dies as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
- Work closely with quality and engineering teams to identify and resolve production issues.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with company safety standards.
- Document production and inspection results accurately.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in thread rolling, preferably in a fastener or precision metal manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Waterbury, Hartford, or similar thread rolling equipment highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read/interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and process documents.
- Experience with production and quality systems such as ISO9001 / AS9100 is preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices a plus.
- Ability to identify quality issues and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions.
- Positive attitude, detail orientation, and strong teamwork skills.
