Job Title: Structural Engineer (Lead, Senior, or Principal)

Location: Houston (Onsite M-F)

Type: Direct Hire/W-2

Compensation: $100k – $150k /year + Benefits

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal/Lead or Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in structural engineering and a desire to leverage a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. They are seeking complete comfort with the full spectrum of responsibilities, from hands-on analysis and design to direct stakeholder engagement. This role requires strong expertise in structural steel and the ability to bring innovative ideas that can expand the scope of their projects. Proficiency in SAP2000 and Staad.Pro is mandatory, as these are critical tools for their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, analysis, and review of structural projects, both onshore and offshore, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Perform detailed structural analysis using SAP2000 and Staad Pro, focusing on steel structures with occasional involvement in concrete projects.
  • Stamp and approve engineering drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
  • Collaborate directly with stakeholders, including clients and project teams, to understand project requirements, provide technical expertise, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct hands-on analysis and occasionally use AutoCAD to support design efforts.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
  • Develop new engineering solutions and approaches that can lead to the expansion of project scopes and enhance the firm’s expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • State Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is required OR the ability to take P.E. exam this year, which they will fully support.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong background in structural steel.
  • Proficiency in SAP2000 and Staad Pro is absolutely required.
  • Extensive experience in design review, with the ability to confidently stamp and approve engineering drawings.
  • Strong experience in both onshore and offshore structural projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to occasionally perform hands-on design work using AutoCAD
  • Proven track record of bringing innovative ideas to the table, contributing to project expansion and expertise development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mathcad and other engineering software is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or mentorship role within an engineering team.
