About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Test Technician to support the testing, characterization, and validation of high-performance liquid-cooled cold plates used in advanced electronics and thermal management systems.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with hardware, building test setups, taking precise measurements, and turning data into clean, reliable insights for engineering teams.

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $28.00–$38.00 per hour (depending on experience)

  • Full-time, hourly, onsite role

  • Monday–Friday schedule, 10:00am–6:00pm

Key Responsibilities

Test Setup & Execution

  • Set up and operate cold plate test rigs for temperature, pressure drop, and flow characterization

  • Assemble and plumb liquid cooling loops (pumps, reservoirs, tubing, fittings, CDUs, heat exchangers)

  • Install and verify sensors (thermocouples, RTDs, pressure transducers, flow meters)

  • Apply and control heat loads using cartridge heaters, resistive heaters, or heater plates

  • Apply thermal interface materials consistently and repeatably

  • Execute steady-state and transient thermal tests following written procedures

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Acquire data using DAQ systems (NI hardware, LabVIEW, Python, or similar tools)

  • Verify sensor calibration and measurement accuracy

  • Process and clean raw data; calculate metrics such as:

    • Thermal resistance

    • Pressure drop vs. flow rate

    • Heat transfer coefficients

  • Maintain organized test logs, data plots, and summary reports

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with mechanical, thermal, and simulation engineers

  • Provide feedback based on test results to guide design improvements

  • Support internal reviews and customer-facing validation activities

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physics, or similar field OR equivalent hands-on industry/lab experience

  • 2+ years in thermal, mechanical, or fluid testing (lab, R&D, or industrial environment)

  • Experience with liquid cooling systems (water, glycol, etc.)

  • Familiarity with temperature and pressure measurement hardware

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with lab hardware

  • Ability to follow detailed test procedures and produce repeatable results

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience testing cold plates, heat sinks, or liquid-cooled electronics

  • Familiarity with:

    • NI DAQ hardware, LabVIEW, or Python-based DAQ systems

    • Data analysis tools (Excel, MATLAB, Python)

  • Basic understanding of heat transfer and fluid mechanics

  • Ability to read drawings and basic schematics

Soft Skills

  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized

  • Comfortable working independently in a lab environment

  • Clear written and verbal communication

  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and curiosity

Why Join Us?

  • Work with cutting-edge thermal management technology

  • Hands-on R&D lab environment

  • Growth opportunities in an engineering-focused organization

  • Competitive hourly pay and predictable schedule
