POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for upkeep of corporate quality assurance system and team that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of the company. Champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS); initiate and implement quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines. Educate and train employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Implement, and integrate a QMS for manufacturing plans.
2. Serve as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
3. Implement and document procedures for document control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
4. Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions
5. Perform root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions.
6. Establish collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
7. Analyze customers’ product specifications to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of manufacture and reproducibility.
8. Develop quality planning methods for all product lines.
9. Develop process certification standards and assist in process certification.
10. Monitor vendor performance and establish criteria and rating system for critical vendors.
11. Review customer purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
12. Interact with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
13. Oversee calibration and testing programs.
14. Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
15. Review suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements.
16. Participate in internal and external quality audits.
17. Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
18. All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in use of standard measuring equipment and procedures, Blueprint reading and understanding tolerances. ISO 9001 experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER PREFERRED CAPABILITIES:
• Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
• Experience in designing and implementing quality systems.
• Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong computer skills including quality control applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
.CMM operation.
• Thorough understanding of general safety requirements.
• Understanding of Mil Standards.
