Position Summary
The Quality Control Inspector ensures components meet engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and cosmetic standards. This role performs incoming, in-process, and final inspections, documents results, and works with production and engineering teams to identify defects and maintain consistent product quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of thermoformed and molded plastic components.
- Verify part dimensions, features, and cosmetic requirements against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Inspect plastic components such as equipment enclosures, radomes, aircraft interior panels, and molded housings.
- Identify and document manufacturing defects including warping, incomplete forming, surface imperfections, trim deviations, and dimensional nonconformances.
- Use inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and inspection fixtures.
- Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation and inspection reports.
- Generate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and communicate quality issues to production and engineering teams.
- Support first article inspections and verification of new production runs or tooling setups.
- Monitor production quality and escalate recurring issues or trends to the quality team.
- Assist with internal audits and support compliance with applicable quality management systems (ISO 9001 / AS9100 where applicable).
Qualifications / Requirements
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensional specifications.
- Experience using precision measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify dimensional and cosmetic defects.
- Good documentation skills and familiarity with inspection reporting practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience inspecting plastic components, thermoformed parts, or molded products.
- Experience working in aerospace, electronics, plastics, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
- Knowledge of basic GD&T principles and first article inspection processes.
