PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:

  • Design of components and assemblies used in automated machinery

  • Exercise engineering judgement to select and apply standard mechanical engineering concepts and techniques

  • Partner with team members to ensure the quality, performance, timely delivery, and cost for custom new machinery, spare parts, and retrofit kits

  • Create complete assembly and detail drawings

  • Perform model, drawing, document revisions and complete Engineering Change Requests

    (ECR's)

  • Construct and edit bills of materials (BOM's) through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and computer aided design (CAD) systems

  • Lead design reviews for components, assemblies, and manufacturing practices

  • Collaborate with shop floor assembly technicians to review design criteria, specifications,

    continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting

  • Work closely with sourcing, quality control, and suppliers regarding part requirements

  • Other duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • 2-5 years' experience designing components and machinery

  • Demonstrative root cause analysis, problem solving, and decision-making skills

  • 3D modeling and 2D drafting with GD&T experience for parts and assemblies

  • Ability to read and interpret legacy and vendor drawings

  • Creating and maintaining BOM's

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Plans and manages own tasks with multiple concurrent projects

  • Self-motivated, exhibits project ownership and follow through

  • Desire to succeed in an environment where engineering costs and schedules must be minimized for the company to be successful

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Sustaining engineering support for equipment, fabrication, or assembly

    • Experience with precision machined steel components

    • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics

    • Automation, motion control, and complex machine design

    • Machine design proficiency in automated equipment and tool/die industry SOFTWARE SKILLS:

      • 2D and 3D CAD such as SolidWorks or Solid Edge

      • ERP software to set up parts, maintain BOM's, and process ECR's

      • Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word

        PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:

        • Work schedule generally consists of 45 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.

        • Ability to lift/maneuver 20 pounds.
