Mechanical Engineer
Full-time
BSME
3 – 7 years (hands-on mechanical experience) Mechanical design and testing
Managing and executing projects related to mechanical, electrical, and optical testing of high-performance ropes, cables, terminations, and associated equipment
Interfacing with customers and analyzing customers’ requirements and specifications to determine the scope of the test programs
Designing test fixtures, equipment, and systems to accomplish the required tests
Directing laboratory personnel in the setup of test equipment, instrumentation, and hydraulic and electrical power
and control systems
Coordinating the operation, repair, and maintenance activities for test equipment and systems
Maintaining project records and assisting with project reports
Supervising laboratory personnel including planning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing
complaints, and resolving problems. The requirements of this position include:
Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team
Good mechanical and basic electrical skills
Good written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and SolidWorks
Ability to draw, read, and interpret mechanical drawings
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, management, and customers
Ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.)
Ability to read and analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and
governmental regulations
Familiarity with the operation of the following equipment is desirable: hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, simple
hydraulic circuits, electro-hydraulic servos, servo controllers, load cells, signal conditioners, data loggers, lathe, mill, and drill press, and electric stick and MIG welding.
The individual must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required physical capabilities include ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
