We are currently accepting applications for the role of Maintenance Supervisor at our Recycling facility in San Jose, California.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of all operating equipment and facility infrastructure. Directing the unionized employees working in the department, the Maintenance Supervisor will be accountable to minimize downtime to ensure production schedules can be met and to minimize costs where appropriate, while maintaining a safe work environment.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate routine plant and office maintenance, ensuring that maintenance is conducted in compliance with applicable OSHA standards;

  • Direct preventative maintenance programs to ensure that the plant is well maintained to minimize down time and repairs;

  • Troubleshooting broken equipment, obtain quotes, plan repairs, maintain inventories of routine repair parts and critical spares;

  • Implement projects to maintain suitable workplace with regard to safety, appearance, and habitability;

  • Lead the training for all department employees as well as providing ongoing motivation and supervision.

  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel perform their jobs safely, and comply with all EH&Srules.

  • Work with EHS to ensure environmental compliance with DTSC, BAAQMD, SJFD and EPA regulations;

Remain an active member of the Emergency Response Team;

  • Successful completion of a four year college or university program, technical programs related to the role would be an asset;

  • 2 4 years’ experience in a similar role, or working in a plant setting with exposure to maintenance;

  • Candidates with experience in the recycling industry are preferred;

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with and

    present information to maintenance workers and supervisors;

  • Read, analyze, and interpret equipment operating and maintenance manuals,

    company policies and standard operating procedures;

  • Interpret a variety of technical instructions in written or diagram form;

  • Apply mechanical and electrical concepts to practical operations, repairs and


  • Team-oriented with proven conflict-management capabilities;

  • Read, write, and speak the English language. Spanish language skills are an asset but

    not required.
