Job Summary:
The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the assigned shop department, including supervision of machine shop staff, to ensure alignment with company goals. This position also directs the activities of the department with the goal to machine the best possible customer parts and components on time, while continuously improving processes and maintaining a safe working environment. Ultimately, this position is responsible for being a leadership resource providing knowledge, training and mentoring, motivation, support and advice. This is a hands-on working position.

This position also directs the activities of the department with the goal to machine the best possible customer parts and components on time, while continuously improving processes and maintaining a safe working environment. Ultimately, this position is responsible for being a leadership resource providing knowledge, training and mentoring, motivation, support and advice. This is a hands-on working position.
Supervisory Core Responsibilities:
- Manage the assigned shop floor department and staff by organizing and monitoring the workflow to include work order schedules, assigning duties and work schedules, monitoring employee work order task progress and work order accumulated hours to ensure maximum productivity.
- Adjusts employee work order hours as needed, in accordance with Shop Manager communications and monitors productivity by utilizing Quantum, T.V. monitors, shipping projection reports, and scheduling sheets to maintain optimum productivity.
- Ensure that the proper procedures are followed for each job and that the appropriate paperwork is being processed.
- Inspect completed parts for quality and inspect work order documents for sign-off on completeness, move completed parts to the next operation in Quantum and physically move the parts to the next operation.
- Ensure to “status” the work order location in MRO Live.
- Participate in the planning of personnel training, cross training and skill development; provide guidance and instruction for work order tasks, as well as assess, train and coach employees on the proper use of production equipment, safety and tooling to ensure the team’s overall success.
- Manage all staff matters and disciplinary issues in partnership with Human Resources to include employee interactions and proper employee documentation; and work with Human Resources to ensure employee performance reviews are completed timely in an effort to ensure all operations align with company goals, policies, and procedures.
- Assess requests for time off to determine viability before approval to ensure adequate production needs are met; review all time clock adjustments submitted for approval to ensure timekeeping records are accurate; and ensure that all overtime is authorized in advance by confirming the overtime sheets are signed off by the Shop Manager.
- Ensure clear and effective communication within the shop department to include shift tie-in’s, interdepartmental communication (both verbal and written) for improved coordination of productive operations with Engineering, Production Control and Human Resources.
- Participate in meetings related to shop operations and be an active team member by providing efficient concise responses, ideas to improve department structures and procedures to increase productivity.
- Ensure a clean and safe workplace by following safe work practices and health regulations, including appropriate personal protective equipment, and report all employee injuries according to specified guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned. This position occasionally requires mandatory overtime, with little or no advance notice.

- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, in accordance with the eligibility requirements of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 145.
- All maintenance and inspection-related positions are required to submit to preemployment and random DOT drug and alcohol testing, in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 120.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years machine shop supervision experience required .
First Shift: 630 AM to 330 PM Pay Ranges from $40-$50/Hour
