Job Summary:
The Jig Grinder proficiently operates Moore G-18 or similar jig grinders and is adept at working from drawings, sketches, blueprints, and schematics. This skilled operator is responsible for the set-up, adjustment, and safe operation of all essential jig grinder equipment components to produce parts that consistently meet precise specifications. The operator also identifies and aptly addresses any potential issues in the grinding process and makes necessary adjustments independently.

This skilled operator is responsible for the set-up, adjustment, and safe operation of all essential jig grinder equipment components to produce parts that consistently meet precise specifications. The operator also identifies and aptly addresses any potential issues in the grinding process and makes necessary adjustments independently.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Core Responsibilities:
- Reviews drawings, sketches, blueprints or schematics prior to machine operation.
- Conducts machine set-up prior to each production assignment and proficiently operates jig grinders using in-depth knowledge of grinding techniques, including adjusting machine controls to regulate feeds and speeds.
- Inspects finished parts with gauges and micrometers to ensure conformance with specifications and corrects failures resulting in non-conformance.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance, including lubrication and cleanliness to ensure continued optimal performance.
- Adheres to all safety regulations, maintains a safe work environment, and reports any irregularities timely.
- Adheres to production schedules and requirements and maintains accurate records of production output.
- Perform other duties as assigned. This position occasionally requires mandatory overtime, with little or no advance notice.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of jig grinders and proficiency in part setup and adjustment, specifically Moore G-18 jig grinders.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to produce precise work with tight tolerances (tolerances reaching .0005 of an inch).
- Solid problem-solving skills and strong mathematical machining skills.
- Familiarity with aerospace materials, and a good understanding of feeds and speeds pertaining to various materials.
- Efficient in the utilization of various gaging equipment such as OD/ID micrometers, depth and heigh gages, bore gases, etc.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics and experience reading drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with good familiarity of machine shop tools.
- Must demonstrate comprehension of oral instructions and directives provided, as well as the ability to communicate information and ideas effectively to others.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, in accordance with the eligibility requirements of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 145.
- All maintenance and inspection-related positions are required to submit to preemployment and random DOT drug and alcohol testing, in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 120.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years jig grinding experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Required to stand for prolonged lengths of time, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Continually utilize fingers and hands to manipulate equipment controls and make manual adjustments.
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently required to move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally will be required to move over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Regularly required to utilize close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Regular exposure to noise from machines, equipment, and tools.
630 AM to 330 PM Pay Ranges from $26-$32/Hour
