This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in electronics, PCB assemblies, microcontrollers, and electro-mechanical systems who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment.
As an Electronic Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in building, testing, and debugging prototype circuit boards, manufacturing test fixtures, and electromechanical assemblies. Additionally, you will diagnose and analyze failures, assist in troubleshooting returned products (RMA), and support environmental qualification testing. Your expertise in electronic measurement tools and troubleshooting methodologies will be key in ensuring the reliability and performance of high-end aerospace components.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on next-generation aerospace technology, collaborating with world-class engineers to develop products that meet mission-critical performance and durability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prototype Assembly & Development:
- Assemble, test, and debug prototype circuit boards (PCBAs) and electromechanical systems.
- Construct and refine custom manufacturing test jigs, fixtures, and diagnostic tools.
- Assist engineers in circuit validation and functional testing for new product designs.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:
- Conduct component-level diagnostics and debugging of electronic and electromechanical systems.
- Investigate manufacturing defects and assist in failure analysis and reporting.
- Perform detailed analysis of returned products (RMA) to identify failure modes.
Testing & Data Collection:
- Operate advanced electronic test equipment, including:
- Digital Multimeters (DMMs)
- Oscilloscopes
- Dielectric & Insulation Resistance Testers
- Programmable Power Supplies
- Soldering & Rework Stations
- Capture, analyze, and interpret test data trends, reporting findings to engineering teams.
- Support qualification testing for aerospace and defense compliance, including shock, vibration, and thermal testing.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of test procedures, results, and failure analysis.
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve design validation and testing methodologies.
- Document all troubleshooting efforts and present technical findings to leadership.
Compliance & Process Improvement:
- Ensure all work adheres to aerospace and military compliance standards (AS9100, MIL-SPEC).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to refine manufacturing and test processes.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to optimize product performance and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 4+ years of experience working in an engineering lab environment, focusing on prototype development and electronic system testing.
- Hands-on expertise in surface mount PCB assembly and rework techniques.
- Strong understanding of microcontrollers, firmware, and embedded systems.
- Experience with electromechanical components, actuators, and circuit interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Strong analytical skills to collect, interpret, and report test data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with environmental and reliability testing, including temperature, humidity, and shock testing.
- Knowledge of AS9100, MIL-STD, and other aerospace industry standards.
- Hands-on experience with RF electronics, sensors, or embedded system testing.
