Company Overview:

Our long-time San Diego-based industrial design client specializes in air pollution control systems that mitigate gaseous emissions through advanced wet scrubbing technology. These systems cater to a broad spectrum of sectors including chemical, industrial, metallurgical, medical, and pathological waste treatment. Key system components—such as condensers, absorbers, quenchers, Venturi scrubbers, and wet electrostatic precipitators—are also offered in skid form for varied applications. All systems are innovatively designed in-house and brought to life by their trusted supplier network.

This role requires an understanding of P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and DCS, PLC, and HMI control systems. The Engineer will organize, conduct, and supervise pre-shipment inspections, instrument calibrations, I/O checkout, functional testing, and operator training. The position requires approximately 25% to 40% travel to client sites for in-process inspections, factory acceptance tests, installation supervision, commissioning, and troubleshooting of systems.

  • Provide feedback to mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and process models.
  • Participate in design reviews and project closeouts.
  • Review inspection test plans, sequence of operations, and installation instructions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with industrial applications.
  • Understanding of P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and chemical processes.
  • Experience with industrial automation/SCADA/HMIs.
  • Documented history of successful field experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for site visits, installation support, and system startup.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOP (training provided)
