Our client is a privately held engineering and manufacturing organization specializing in the design and production of custom, packaged industrial systems used in mission-critical applications. Position Overview

As a Senior Controls Engineer , you will play a vital role in the design, programming, and support of advanced packaged systems. From concept to completion, you will be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle, working closely with sales, production, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams. Your expertise will shape the development of PLCs and HMIs for custom applications, ensuring seamless integration and optimal system performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write and develop code for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) from manufacturers such as Schneider, Client, and Allen-Bradley.
  • Create software for Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) including platforms from Schneider, Red Lion, and Delta.
  • Configure and program Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Develop solutions that incorporate motors, pumps, valves, and instrumentation into cohesive systems.
  • Provide technical support to customers and representatives with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Conduct site visits for system startups, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for control system designs, configurations, and programming.
  • Serve as a mentor by leading and supporting junior engineers and designers.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in control system design and execution.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual shall have at minimum the qualifications below.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, and control system calculations.
  • Experience with controller programming languages including Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Sequential Function Chart (SFC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 programming standards.
  • Understanding of UL 508A industrial control panel standards.
  • Experience navigating NFPA 70 (NEC).
  • Proficiency with CAD software, such as Autodesk AutoCAD or EPLAN.
  • Knowledge of standard programming languages including VBA, .NET, SQL, or Python.
