Position Title: CNC Programmer/Senior Machinist
Location: Panama City, Florida
Job Type: Contract to Benefited Permanent (Full-time)
Schedule: Day Shift, M-F (Occasional Weekends as Needed)
Compensation: $35/hr. – $43/hr.
Eligibility: U.S. Permanent Residency or Citizenship Per ITAR Requirements

Their climate controlled, ITAR-registered Panama City site is seeking well-rounded CNC Programmers to join our team and contribute to their decades-long reputation for delivering high-reliability components.

Position Overview:
The CNC Programmer is a critical role responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes to fabricate custom precision parts. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in CAM programming, tooling/fixture setups, adjusting programs from machine controls, and machine operation, ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency in our production processes. For those who enjoy bestowing their knowledge and experience, this position will also act as resource for less experienced machinists as opportunities for growth/development occur.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program CNC machines (mills and lathes) using SolidCAM and SolidWorks to produce precision parts per blueprint drawings/customer specifications
  • Set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces for CNC mills and lathes, ensuring accurate and efficient operation.
  • Operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously, maintaining consistent production flow and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming, machining, and tooling issues as they arise.
  • Lead and mentor other machinists/operators, directing work priorities and ensuring adherence to production schedules.
  • Implement and oversee Change Management and AS9102 First Article procedures, ensuring all program/machine/tooling changes are accurately documented and executed.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing processes and workflows to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Maintain and organize tooling inventory, ensuring tools are resharpened, stocked, and optimized for production use.
  • Ensure all work is completed with a high degree of quality and professionalism, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Full command of machining processes, including milling and turning, with in-depth knowledge of materials such as carbon steel, aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, and plastics.
  • Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC programming of mills & lathes
  • Required: Minimum of 7 years machine setup, with a focus on both mills and lathes.
  • CAM & CAD: Proficiency in CAM software, with the ability to program from 3D models.
  • Machine Shop Knowledge: Strong Shop Math in addition to proficient GD&T and blueprint reading
  • GD&T: Experience with micrometers, verniers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Quality: Familiarity with space/defense tolerances, ISO standards, & MRP/ERP software
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to monitor processes and diagnose/interpret machine noises
  • Computer Skills: CAM/CAD Experience, Microsoft365 Tools (Word, PP, Excel)
