CalTek Staffing is working with a long-standing U.S. manufacturer of high-performance machinery used in aerospace, defense, naval, oil/gas infrastructure, and industrial automation. ISO-certified and vertically integrated, the company handles everything in-house—from castings to CNC machining to final assembly. Position Summary
The Senior CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting CNC programs for a variety of mills and lathes used in the production of precision motor components. This position requires a strong background in Esprit CAM software, G-code proficiency, and a deep understanding of machining castings and complex geometries in low-volume settings. You’ll work closely with machinists, engineers, and production leadership to ensure high-efficiency setups and exceptional part quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program CNC equipment using Esprit CAM (Edge or 20XX versions)
  • Support a range of machine types, including:
    • 3-axis vertical mills (e.g., HAAS)
    • 4-axis horizontal mills (e.g., Mazak, OKK)
    • 2-axis and live-tool lathes (e.g., Mori Seiki, PUMA – C & Y axis)
    • 3+2 positioning-based 5-axis applications
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models
  • Select tooling, speeds, and feeds appropriate for each material and part spec
  • Perform trial runs and adjustments to validate program accuracy and efficiency
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to resolve manufacturing issues on the floor
  • Modify and edit G-code at the machine when needed; Fanuc Macro B proficiency a plus
  • Work with castings and non-billet raw stock to develop robust workholding and strategies
  • Maintain clear documentation and version control of all CNC programs
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling, programming, and process flow

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in CNC programming and operation.
  • Proficiency in Esprit Mill and Lathe
  • Proficiency w/ G&M Codes – Ability to read, modify, or troubleshoot a program
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, materials and tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
