Our Machine Shop in San Marcos utilizing CNC controlled lasers to cut parts for electronics & medical industries and are looking for a 1st shift production worker – hours – 3:30PM to 12:00AM Monday – Friday. Possibility for overtime Shift flexibility may be a bonus.

*This is not an R&D lab; we are under a tight schedule to get work done. Must thrive in a quick paced environment.

Prompt regular Attendance required

Note – Parts produced are typically small, fragile, generally electronics based. Most materials machined are thin flat alumina ceramics and are profiled/laser cut to shape or have cutouts added. A small percentage of materials are thin metals (stainless, titanium, copper, etc), plastics.

This is NOT a warehouse job. No forklifts involved. No heavy lifting. No cutting fluids.

If previous CNC milling experience – Must Be Able to Transfer skills from metal working CNC Milling Machines (HAAS Fadal Mitsubishi, etc) to our 2 axis Laser machining centers (Aerotech controllers) – forget about spindle speeds and tool changes.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  1. Experience operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines in a manufacturing environment, including set up, offset, changeovers, and program (edit) experience desirable.
  1. Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators and scales.
  1. Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with a good understanding of shop math.
  1. Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
  1. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Excellent manual dexterity required as well as an eye for visual quality and small features

  1. Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
  1. Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  1. Must be willing and able to train on 1st shift if needed

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines.
  1. Responsible for loading parts, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  1. Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
  1. Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
  1. Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
  1. Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  1. Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  1. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

$20-$25/Hour depending on experience.
