Position Overview
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the company’s gas membrane separation business. This includes overseeing manufacturing, engineering, sales, supply chain, finance, and regulatory compliance. The GM ensures profitability, drives growth in core and emerging markets, and fosters a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute business strategies aligned with company objectives and market opportunities in gas separation and chemical process systems.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in gas generation, purification, and recovery technologies (e.g., membrane, PSA,).
- Provide market insights on industrial gases, renewable energy, and environmental applications.
2. Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across production, engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (ISO, OSHA, EPA).
- Drive efficiency improvements, cost reductions, and on-time delivery performance.
3. Product Development
- Provide leadership to the company’s R&D teams
- Develop schedules with key milestones identified
- Work with business unit managers on product development requires
- Benchmark the company products with market offerings
4. Financial Oversight
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, P&L statements, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor cost controls and pricing strategies to maintain profitability and competitiveness.
- Evaluate capital investments and manage vendor and contract negotiations.
5. Commercial & Business Development
- Direct sales and marketing efforts targeting industrial, energy, and environmental markets.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships and key customer relationships.
- Support proposal development and technical sales, ensuring alignment between client needs and company capabilities.
6. Team Leadership & Culture
- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing, cross-functional team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and safety.
- Lead workforce planning and performance evaluations.
7. Regulatory & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable industry regulations and certifications.
- Oversee quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and sustainability efforts.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
- MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in chemical processing, industrial gas, or related industries.
- Proven experience managing manufacturing or engineering operations.
- Strong understanding of gas separation technologies (membranes, PSA/VPSA, etc.) is a plus.
- Track record of improving financial performance and operational efficiency in small to mid-sized organizations.
