Senior Project Engineer

Compensation: $135k-$150k + bonus

San Diego, CA

Onsite/25%-30% Travel

A leading San Diego, CA-based firm specializes in the production of air pollution control systems for capturing particulate and gaseous emissions through advanced wet scrubbing technology. These systems cater to a broad spectrum of sectors including chemical, industrial, metallurgical, medical, and pathological waste treatment. Key system components—such as condensers, absorbers, quenchers, Venturi scrubbers, and wet electrostatic precipitators—are also offered for varied applications. All systems are innovatively designed in-house and brought to life by our trusted supplier network.




Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer with a strong design focus, who will transition into a hands-on Project Management role. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in process equipment design, project engineering, and project management for custom-engineered projects in the air pollution control industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of project engineering, including detail design of equipment, review of specifications and drawings, vendor selection and management, and project documentation and training.
  • Oversee the creation of fabrication drawings in SolidWorks, develop RFQs, evaluate bids, and participate in vendor selection.
  • Coordinate fabrication processes and develop engineering deliverables such as piping and instrumentation diagrams, operation and maintenance manuals, and training materials.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure successful project execution.
  • Utilize SolidWorks and Microsoft Project for project design and management.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, with a preference for previous work supporting refineries, chemical plants, or large industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with ASME Boiler Pressure Code, PLC, HMI equipment, and structural steel.
  • Strong written English skills.

Special Skills:

  • Ability to transition from a technical engineering role to a project management position.
  • Fieldwork experience, with willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Strong project documentation and training skills.
