CalTek is a Dallas staffing agency specializing in the recruitment of Architectural Designer Drafters for Sustainable Design & Green Building industries.
Our client is a clean energy and sustainable design company pioneering the decarbonization of heating and cooling systems in commercial and institutional buildings. Their mission is to transform the built environment through energy-efficient HVAC retrofits, renewable energy integration, and green building design.
Specializing in commercial real estate, campus facilities, and district energy systems, the company develops innovative thermal energy storage and load-shifting technologies that reduce carbon emissions and enable smarter, cleaner energy use. By combining sustainable architecture, mechanical systems engineering, and data-driven modeling, they help organizations transition to net-zero energy and LEED-certified building performance.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
As an Architectural Design & Drafter in the Sustainable Design & Green Building industry, you will play a critical role in designing, drafting, and detailing architectural plans that integrate renewable energy systems, sustainable materials, and high-performance mechanical infrastructure.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Create and modify architectural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations for commercial, institutional, and mixed-use projects using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM modeling software.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants to design high-performance buildings aligned with LEED, WELL, and Passive House standards.
- Prepare construction documentation, site layouts, and detailed shop drawings for HVAC system retrofits, heat pump installations, and district energy system integration.
- Utilize Revit and BIM workflows for 3D modeling, clash detection, and coordination with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) teams.
- Incorporate sustainable design principles such as daylighting, natural ventilation, energy modeling, and renewable integration into every project phase.
- Support energy simulation and lifecycle cost analysis in coordination with mechanical and environmental engineers.
- Ensure designs comply with local building codes, ADA standards, ASHRAE 90.1, and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
- Participate in conceptual design, schematic development, and construction administration to ensure sustainability objectives are met.
- Create detailed as-built documentation and update BIM models based on field markups and project revisions.
- Work with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate geothermal, solar thermal, and advanced HVAC systems into building designs.
- Support the preparation of LEED documentation, energy modeling reports, and submittals for sustainability certifications.
- Maintain organized drawing libraries, templates, and CAD standards according to company procedures and AEC industry best practices.
