We are a software and IT staffing agency recruiting for an opening in San Jose. Our client is an innovative pharmaceutical company at the forefront of the healthcare and telemedicine industry, pioneering treatments that use RNA interference (RNAi) technology to suppress disease-causing genes. Their research and development focus on previously “undruggable” targets, driving new therapies across multiple domains, including liver diseases (hepatitis B, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency), cardiometabolic disorders, pulmonary diseases, rare genetic conditions, and oncology (cancer drug development).

As part of a cross-functional team, you’ll contribute to mission-critical applications that support drug discovery, clinical trials, patient telemedicine platforms, and healthcare data management systems. This is a chance to apply your software development expertise in an environment where technology directly impacts patient outcomes worldwide.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

As an Application Developer (Full Stack / Telemedicine / Healthcare), you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level healthcare applications supporting clinical workflows, patient portals, and data analytics platforms.
  • Build and enhance secure telemedicine platforms for remote patient care, integrating HIPAA-compliant APIs and encrypted communication channels.
  • Develop applications that integrate with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Allscripts.
  • Collaborate with biomedical researchers and clinical data scientists to create software tools for RNAi drug discovery and high-throughput screening analysis.
  • Implement HL7, FHIR, and DICOM standards for healthcare interoperability.
  • Use cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) to design scalable and resilient applications that meet 21 CFR Part 11 compliance for pharmaceutical software.
  • Work with DevOps pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure efficient deployment and continuous integration.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, optimize system performance, and provide ongoing support for end users in a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum software development environment, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred, especially with focus in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Health Informatics.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong background in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or telemedicine applications.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and modern languages/frameworks such as:
    • Java, C#, Python, JavaScript (React, Angular, Vue), TypeScript
    • .NET Core, Spring Boot, Django, Node.js
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, SOAP, and microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL & NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance including:
    • HIPAA, GDPR, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP compliance
  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR integration (Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, MEDITECH).
  • Knowledge of healthcare data exchange protocols: HL7, FHIR, DICOM.
  • Cloud development expertise on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Solid background in DevOps practices: CI/CD, version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket), Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical R&D or biotech software development.
  • Exposure to RNAi technology, genomics, and computational biology applications.
  • Experience building secure telemedicine platforms with real-time video APIs (WebRTC, Twilio, Zoom SDK).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, D3.js) for clinical and research data dashboards.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning/AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) applied to biomedical data.
  • Agile/Scrum certification (CSM, SAFe, PMI-ACP) a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity practices in healthcare (encryption, identity access management, penetration testing).
