Company Overview
Our South Orange County client is an advanced precision manufacturing organization supporting the production of complex components used within sophisticated electronic instrumentation, aerospace, communications, semiconductor, and high-technology applications.

Operating within an engineering-driven manufacturing environment, this organization specializes in the production of extremely small, close-tolerance machined components requiring exceptional dimensional control, surface finish quality, and process repeatability.

Their facility combines advanced Swiss-style CNC machining, precision metrology, process engineering, and high-end manufacturing practices to support products where precision and reliability are mission critical. This is a clean, technically sophisticated machining environment focused on quality, process ownership, and continuous improvement rather than simple production machining.

The organization offers long-term stability, modern equipment, strong engineering support, and the opportunity to work on highly specialized precision components in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Swiss CNC Machinist to support swing shift machining operations within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
This role is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, optimization, and quality control of Swiss-style CNC lathes producing extremely small, high-precision machined components.
The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on machining ability, advanced troubleshooting skills, and experience maintaining dimensional consistency on tight-tolerance turned parts. This position requires someone capable of independently owning machining processes from setup through first article approval while maintaining strict adherence to quality and process control standards.
Candidates from precision manufacturing environments supporting aerospace, medical device, instrumentation, semiconductor, RF/microwave, optics, or similar high-tolerance industries are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently setup and operate CNC Swiss-style lathes during swing shift operations
  • Perform complete machine setups including tooling selection, offsets, program verification, and first article inspection
  • Produce extremely small, close-tolerance machined components requiring exceptional dimensional and surface finish control
  • Make real-time machining adjustments involving tooling offsets, feeds, speeds, and process parameters to maintain process stability
  • Troubleshoot machining issues including dimensional variation, tool wear, chatter, burr formation, machine alarms, and surface finish defects
  • Utilize advanced metrology equipment to verify part quality and maintain compliance with engineering specifications
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, setup sheets, and process documentation
  • Grind, sharpen, and recondition carbide and HSS cutting tools as required
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, downtime, and inspection documentation
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and routine machine readiness checks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused machining environment

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desired:

  • Swiss-style CNC lathes such as : Star, Tsugami, Citizen, or Tornos
  • Strong working knowledge of FANUC CNC controls
  • Precision machining of miniature or micro-scale turned components
  • Advanced metrology and inspection equipment
  • Tool grinding and tool reconditioning
  • CNC program editing and optimization
  • Tight-tolerance machining environments requiring high process repeatability
  • Materials including stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, brass, and engineering plastics

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating and setting up CNC Swiss-style lathes
  • Strong troubleshooting ability within high-precision machining environments
  • Experience machining extremely small, close-tolerance components
