Position Title: Senior Civil Engineer
Type: Direct Hire – Full Benefits
Compensation: $120,000-$144,000 + $20,000 Signing Bonus
Location: Alaska (Anchorage HQ – Collaboration & Travel to Range of Alaskan Municipalities)

Position Summary:
This role, operating under limited supervision, focuses on managing engineering design services for environmental health and sanitation infrastructure projects. The Senior Civil Engineer will provide leadership, mentoring, and oversight of design staff and complex project execution.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Lead design efforts for the development of sanitation and health facilities in remote areas. Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations across local, state, tribal, and federal levels.
- Manage contracts, review deliverables, and conduct periodic and final inspections of project sites.
- Provide field support during construction, including approving design modifications and offering technical consultation to regional health organizations for facility repairs and upgrades.
- Collaborate with community groups, federal authorities, and internal project teams to drive projects forward, including site investigations, sample analysis, and overseeing technical design work.
- Approve final designs, ensuring alignment with project goals, and manage budgetary and scheduling requirements.
- Mentor and manage a team of engineers, conducting performance evaluations, and coordinating their workloads.
- Oversee the production of detailed construction drawings and technical documents, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in engineering principles, particularly related to water treatment infrastructure in cold climates.
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental health laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related software tools.
- Strong project management abilities, including coordination with contractors and consultants.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams, and delegating tasks effectively.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, including 6 years of design and 4 years in cold-climate projects.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, either from the State of Alaska or from another state with the ability to obtain Alaska licensure within 12 months.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- A Master of Science Degree may substitute for one year of experience.
Additional Requirements:
- With home base in Anchorage, a willingness to travel frequently within Alaska, often in small aircraft, and occasionally outside the state is required.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, and potentially working in extreme weather conditions.
