Our client, an esteemed engineering firm headquartered in Arizona is renowned for their expertise in electrical infrastructure design for mission-critical facilities and offers electrical design, support, and consulting services throughout the construction development process. They specialize in serving clients such as data center builders, cloud providers, commercial developers, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, hospitality providers, and industrial facilities.
With a recent expansion to Central Texas, they are actively seeking experienced licensed Professional Electrical Engineers for their new office located fifteen minutes outside of downtown Austin. This strategic move aims to enhance their scope of in-house expertise with the addition of Mechanical Engineering services while extending their high-quality services to a broader client base in the Central U.S. region, particularly focusing on projects involving electrical infrastructure design for mission-critical facilities.
Position Summary:
The Electrical Commissioning Lead Engineer opening is an opportunity to commission mission-critical electrical systems while overseeing the commissioning process for power generation and distribution systems, uninterruptible power supplies, automatic transfer switches, PDUs, and medium voltage switchgear. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical power systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel at least 50% of the time. The position can be based in Phoenix, AZ, Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA, Reno, NV, or Las Vegas, NV.
Job Duties:
- Develop and oversee commissioning policies, scripts, and procedures.
- Validate equipment installations and perform construction observations.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for various electrical systems, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications.
- Serve as the liaison between clients, contractors, and vendors throughout the commissioning process.
- Analyze data and prepare technical reports, review design documents, and evaluate equipment submittals.
- Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical power distribution, with a focus on data centers.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferred, but other engineering disciplines, two-year degrees, military training, or equivalent experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in uncertain situations, particularly in construction and electrical operational issues.
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong written and oral communication abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with building codes and construction industry standards.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and multitask.
- Experience with quality control of electrical construction documents and proficiency in AutoCAD; Bluebeam experience is a plus.
