Our client is a leading residential HVAC contractor providing heating, cooling, indoor‑air‑quality, and home‑comfort solutions for single‑family homes, multi‑family communities, and residential developments.
Their service teams perform diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and system replacements on a wide range of residential HVAC equipment including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, mini‑splits, air handlers, and IAQ systems. With a strong focus on customer service, technical expertise, and high‑quality workmanship, this role is essential to delivering reliable home‑comfort solutions.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform service, troubleshooting, and repair of residential HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and mini‑split systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance including filter changes, coil cleaning, tune‑ups, and system inspections.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues including compressors, motors, capacitors, relays, contactors, and control boards.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, leak detection, vacuuming, and system charging in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Install and replace residential HVAC equipment including condensers, air handlers, furnaces, thermostats, and ductwork components.
- Educate homeowners on system performance, repair options, maintenance needs, and energy‑efficiency improvements.
- Provide recommendations for repairs, replacements, IAQ upgrades, and home‑comfort enhancements.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Document service activities, maintenance logs, refrigerant usage, and system performance data.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners, dispatchers, and service managers.
- Ensure compliance with EPA 608 regulations, local mechanical codes, and company safety protocols.
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training, OEM certification programs, and technical development.
Education
- Technical diploma or certificate in HVAC/R, Residential HVAC, or Mechanical Technology preferred.
- Equivalent hands‑on experience in residential HVAC service may be considered.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3–7+ years of experience servicing residential HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of residential heating and cooling systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical components.
- Experience with furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini‑splits, and IAQ systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot compressors, motors, capacitors, control boards, and low‑voltage circuits.
- Familiarity with smart thermostats, zoning systems, and home‑automation HVAC controls.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Strong knowledge of EPA 608 regulations and local mechanical codes.
- Experience with digital gauges, multimeters, vacuum pumps, recovery machines, and diagnostic tools.
- Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- OEM training or certifications from Lennox, Carrier, Trane, Goodman, Daikin, or Mitsubishi.
- Experience with ductless mini‑split systems, zoning systems, or high‑efficiency heat pumps.
- Background in residential replacements, IAQ solutions, or home‑performance testing.
- Certifications such as NATE, HVAC Excellence, or state mechanical licenses.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced residential service environment.
