Our client is a leading refrigeration and mechanical services provider supporting grocery chains, cold‑storage warehouses, breweries, food‑processing plants, restaurants, and large commercial facilities throughout Colorado.

Their service teams install, maintain, and repair advanced refrigeration systems including rack systems, walk‑in coolers/freezers, reach‑ins, ice machines, chillers, CO₂ systems, and supermarket refrigeration equipment. With Colorado’s booming food & beverage, distribution, and hospitality sectors, this role is essential for maintaining uptime, product integrity, and energy‑efficient operation.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial refrigeration systems including walk‑ins, reach‑ins, rack systems, ice machines, and display cases.
  • Perform preventive maintenance including coil cleaning, leak checks, filter changes, and system inspections.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues including compressors, evaporators, condensers, TXVs, EEVs, and control circuits.
  • Perform refrigerant recovery, leak detection, vacuuming, and system charging in compliance with EPA regulations.
  • Work with supermarket refrigeration systems including parallel racks, CO₂ transcritical systems, and heat reclaim.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, refrigeration schematics, piping layouts, and sequence of operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control systems including EMS/BAS platforms such as Emerson E2, Danfoss, CPC, and Carel.
  • Document service activities, refrigerant usage, maintenance logs, and equipment performance data.
  • Provide recommendations for repairs, replacements, and system upgrades.
  • Support installation and startup of new refrigeration equipment and retrofits.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and support mission‑critical refrigeration operations.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA 608 regulations, ASHRAE standards, and Colorado mechanical codes.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow all OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with store managers, facility teams, and service coordinators.
  • Participate in ongoing training, OEM certification programs, and technical development.

Education

  • Technical diploma or associate degree in HVAC/R, Refrigeration Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent hands‑on experience in commercial refrigeration service may be considered.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience servicing commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, mechanical components, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with walk‑ins, reach‑ins, rack systems, ice machines, and supermarket refrigeration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot compressors, motors, TXVs, EEVs, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Familiarity with EMS/BAS platforms such as Emerson E2, Danfoss, CPC, or Carel.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, refrigeration schematics, and piping layouts.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA 608 regulations, ASHRAE standards, and Colorado mechanical codes.
  • Experience with digital gauges, leak detectors, multimeters, vacuum pumps, and recovery machines.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required or strongly preferred.
  • OEM training or certifications from Hillphoenix, Hussmann, Heatcraft, or Manitowoc.
  • Experience with CO₂ transcritical systems or natural refrigerants.
  • Background in grocery, cold‑storage, food processing, or brewery environments.
  • Knowledge of hydronic chillers, glycol systems, and process cooling.
  • Certifications such as NATE, HVAC Excellence, or refrigeration trade licenses.
