Our client is a leading production and facilities‑operations company supporting Houston’s manufacturing plants, chemical facilities, food‑processing operations, logistics hubs, and large commercial campuses.
Their maintenance team performs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic automation troubleshooting to keep production equipment and facility systems running at peak performance. With Houston’s nonstop industrial activity and massive equipment footprint, this role is essential for ensuring uptime, reliability, and safe operations.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical systems including conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and production machinery.
- Perform electrical maintenance including motor wiring, VFD troubleshooting, sensors, relays, and control‑panel diagnostics.
- Diagnose and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems including cylinders, valves, regulators, and pumps.
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Repair and maintain packaging equipment, mixers, fillers, ovens, compressors, and material‑handling systems.
- Perform mechanical repairs including bearings, belts, chains, couplings, alignment, and lubrication.
- Assist with PLC troubleshooting (I/O checks, sensor faults, basic ladder‑logic interpretation).
- Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machining for equipment repair and modification.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and system modifications.
- Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment performance in CMMS systems.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and Texas industrial safety regulations.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow all company safety protocols.
- Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours emergencies.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Multi‑Craft Maintenance Technician or Industrial Maintenance Technician.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with motors, pumps, conveyors, and production machinery.
- Intermediate electrical troubleshooting skills (motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, control circuits).
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic meters, and industrial maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and industrial best practices.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in petrochemical, food processing, packaging, or high‑volume manufacturing.
- Familiarity with PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and automation equipment.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, or machining.
- Certifications such as OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, CMRT, or industrial maintenance credentials.
- Experience with CMMS systems for work orders and preventive maintenance.
- Background in robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing equipment.
