Their maintenance team performs mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment upgrades on production machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, and facility systems. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment including conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and production machinery.
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose mechanical failures, replace worn components, and perform equipment rebuilds.
- Repair and maintain packaging equipment, fillers, mixers, ovens, compressors, and material‑handling systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Perform mechanical repairs including bearing replacement, belt alignment, chain tensioning, and lubrication.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and system modifications.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machining for equipment repair and modification.
- Support basic electrical tasks such as motor wiring, sensor replacement, and control‑panel checks (as permitted by skill level).
- Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment performance in CMMS systems.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and California industrial safety regulations.
- Support root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow all company safety protocols.
- Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours emergencies.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician or Maintenance Mechanic.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with conveyors, motors, pumps, and production machinery.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Experience with bearings, belts, chains, couplings, and mechanical drive systems.
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and California regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food & beverage processing, packaging, or high‑volume manufacturing.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, or machining.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting (motors, sensors, relays, VFDs).
- Certifications such as OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or industrial maintenance credentials.
- Experience with CMMS systems for work orders and preventive maintenance.
- Background in automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing equipment.
