We are Houston’s top engineering and technical staffing agency that specializes in recruiting Maintenance Planners for industrial and high‑volume production environments. Our client is a leading operations and facilities‑management provider supporting Houston’s refineries, chemical plants, manufacturing facilities, logistics hubs, and large commercial campuses.

Their maintenance planning team develops, schedules, and optimizes preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime, reliability, and safety. With Houston’s nonstop industrial operations, this role is essential for coordinating maintenance workflows and supporting long‑term asset performance.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Create detailed job plans including labor requirements, materials, tools, permits, and safety procedures.
  • Review work requests, validate scope, and prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
  • Maintain and update CMMS systems with job plans, work orders, asset history, and maintenance records.
  • Order and stage parts, materials, and equipment required for maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians, supervisors, engineering, and operations teams to plan work efficiently.
  • Analyze equipment history to identify recurring issues and recommend reliability improvements.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and facility safety standards.
  • Coordinate contractor work, vendor services, and outside maintenance support.
  • Monitor backlog, track KPIs, and report on maintenance performance metrics.
  • Support shutdown/turnaround planning including scope development, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Assist with root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all planned work includes proper safety procedures, lockout/tagout steps, and risk assessments.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Scheduler, or Industrial Maintenance Technician.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment.
  • Experience using CMMS platforms (SAP PM, Maximo, eMaint, Infor, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple work orders and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and industrial best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in petrochemical, refinery, or heavy‑industrial environments.
  • Certifications such as CMRP, CMRT, or maintenance‑planning credentials.
  • Experience with reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) or TPM programs.
  • Background in shutdown/turnaround planning.
  • Familiarity with spare‑parts management and storeroom optimization.
