Their engineering teams design, optimize, and deploy image‑processing algorithms across embedded systems, GPUs, cloud platforms, and high‑performance computing environments. This role is critical for delivering high‑accuracy image analysis, real‑time performance, and production‑ready vision solutions in one of the most advanced tech ecosystems in the world.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize image‑processing algorithms for filtering, enhancement, segmentation, detection, and classification.
  • Design and maintain imaging pipelines for real‑time and offline processing workflows.
  • Work with both classical computer‑vision algorithms and deep‑learning‑based models.
  • Perform image calibration, noise reduction, color correction, geometric transformations, and feature extraction.
  • Develop algorithms for object detection, tracking, recognition, and 3D reconstruction.
  • Analyze image datasets, evaluate algorithm performance, and tune parameters for accuracy and speed.
  • Implement algorithms on embedded systems, GPUs, or edge‑compute platforms.
  • Collaborate with robotics, hardware, and machine‑learning teams to integrate imaging solutions into production systems.
  • Optimize algorithms for latency, throughput, memory usage, and computational efficiency.
  • Work with imaging sensors including RGB, IR, hyperspectral, depth, LiDAR, and high‑speed cameras.
  • Develop automated testing, validation, and benchmarking tools for image‑processing pipelines.
  • Document algorithms, design decisions, and system architecture.
  • Participate in code reviews, research evaluations, and technical roadmap planning.
  • Stay current with advancements in computer vision, imaging hardware, and AI‑driven image analysis.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • PhD preferred for research‑heavy or algorithm‑development roles.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5–10+ years of experience in image processing, computer vision, or related algorithm development.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++ for algorithm implementation.
  • Experience with OpenCV, NumPy, SciPy, scikit‑image, or similar libraries.
  • Hands‑on experience with deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong understanding of image‑processing fundamentals including filtering, transforms, segmentation, and feature extraction.
  • Experience with GPU programming (CUDA) or hardware‑accelerated image processing.
  • Ability to analyze large image datasets and evaluate algorithm performance.
  • Experience with imaging sensors such as RGB, IR, depth, or hyperspectral cameras.
  • Strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, signal processing, and statistics.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, production‑quality code.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded vision, edge AI, or real‑time imaging systems.
  • Background in robotics, autonomous vehicles, semiconductor inspection, or medical imaging.
  • Experience with 3D vision, SLAM, point‑cloud processing, or multi‑sensor fusion.
  • Knowledge of camera calibration, intrinsic/extrinsic modeling, and optical systems.
  • Experience with cloud‑based image pipelines (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with MLOps, model deployment, and continuous integration for vision systems.
  • Publications, patents, or research contributions in image processing or computer vision.
