Our client is a leading mechanical contractor delivering HVAC installation, retrofit, and construction services for office towers, hospitals, universities, mixed‑use developments, distribution centers, and large‑scale commercial buildings across Metro Atlanta — the hottest and fastest‑growing HVAC market in Georgia.

Their field leadership teams oversee installation of complex HVAC systems including rooftop units (RTUs), air handlers, VAV systems, VRF/VRV systems, hydronic piping, chilled‑water systems, boilers, and building automation‑integrated equipment. With Atlanta’s extreme heat and rapid construction pace, this role is critical to delivering high‑quality, on‑schedule mechanical projects.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise HVAC installation crews on commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Coordinate daily field activities including manpower planning, scheduling, and task assignments.
  • Oversee installation of ductwork, piping, RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, boilers, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure all work meets project specifications, mechanical drawings, and engineering requirements.
  • Conduct jobsite walkthroughs, quality checks, and safety inspections.
  • Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, piping schematics, and installation diagrams.
  • Monitor project progress, identify field issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with IMC, IECC, ASHRAE standards, and Georgia mechanical codes.
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries, material staging, and jobsite logistics.
  • Support system startups, commissioning, and functional testing with senior technicians.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, labor tracking, and jobsite documentation.
  • Enforce OSHA safety protocols, company safety policies, and jobsite best practices.
  • Train, mentor, and develop HVAC installers, apprentices, and junior technicians.
  • Participate in project meetings, coordination sessions, and schedule reviews.
  • Ensure high‑quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school training in HVAC/R, mechanical systems, or construction preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial HVAC installation, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and mechanical equipment installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience managing field crews on commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of IMC, IECC, ASHRAE standards, and Georgia mechanical codes.
  • Proficiency with jobsite tools, lifts, rigging, and installation equipment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team‑coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage schedules, manpower, and field productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal).
  • Experience with VRF/VRV systems, chilled‑water systems, or large‑tonnage equipment.
  • Background in hospitals, universities, mixed‑use developments, or industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with BAS systems such as Tridium Niagara, Metasys, or Siemens Desigo.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, NATE, or mechanical trade licenses.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or construction‑management software.
