Our client is a leading mechanical services provider supporting aerospace manufacturing plants, defense contractors, R&D labs, cleanrooms, composite fabrication facilities, and large‑scale industrial operations throughout the Los Angeles region.
Their service division maintains and optimizes complex HVAC systems including industrial air handlers, process cooling systems, cleanroom HVAC, high‑static air distribution, chilled‑water plants, boilers, VRF/VRV systems, and building automation controls. With a strong focus on uptime, compliance, and mission‑critical reliability, the company supports the rapidly expanding aerospace and advanced‑manufacturing sector in Southern California.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage HVAC service operations for aerospace, defense, and industrial manufacturing facilities.
- Oversee a team of HVAC technicians, dispatchers, and service coordinators to ensure timely and high‑quality service delivery.
- Manage preventive maintenance programs for industrial HVAC systems, cleanrooms, process cooling, and mission‑critical equipment.
- Coordinate service activities for AHUs, RTUs, VAV systems, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, boilers, hydronic systems, and industrial ventilation.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace environmental standards, ISO cleanroom classifications, and California mechanical codes.
- Work closely with facility managers, engineers, and manufacturing leadership to support production‑critical HVAC operations.
- Review service reports, diagnostics, and equipment performance data to identify system issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop scopes of work, service proposals, repair estimates, and maintenance agreements.
- Support commissioning, TAB, and validation activities for cleanrooms and controlled‑environment spaces.
- Collaborate with BAS teams to troubleshoot controls, optimize sequences, and maintain environmental stability.
- Monitor KPIs including response times, service quality, technician productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage vendor relationships, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Ensure all service activities follow OSHA, EPA, ASHRAE, and aerospace safety protocols.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning for the service department.
- Provide coaching, training, and technical development for HVAC service technicians.
- Support emergency response and mission‑critical service calls for aerospace production lines and R&D facilities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience in HVAC service leadership or industrial mechanical systems may be considered.
Required Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC service, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or mission‑critical facilities.
- Strong understanding of industrial HVAC systems, cleanroom HVAC, process cooling, and environmental‑control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and engineering documents.
- Experience with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Metasys, Siemens Desigo, or Honeywell EBI.
- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, IECC, Title 24, and California Energy Code.
- Proficiency with service‑management software, scheduling tools, and maintenance platforms.
- Strong communication, leadership, and customer‑relationship skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, service contracts, and operational KPIs.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aerospace cleanrooms, composite manufacturing HVAC, or environmental‑control systems.
- Background in mission‑critical cooling, industrial ventilation, or high‑static air systems.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Certifications such as NATE, HVAC Excellence, LEED AP, or mechanical trade licenses.
- Experience with energy‑efficiency programs, utility incentives, and industrial HVAC optimization.
- Familiarity with industrial safety programs, lockout/tagout, and aerospace facility compliance requirements.
