Our client is a leading mechanical contractor providing HVAC installation, retrofit, and construction services for office buildings, hospitals, universities, biotech facilities, government buildings, and large‑scale commercial properties.

Their installation teams work with advanced HVAC systems including rooftop units (RTUs), air handlers, VAV systems, VRF/VRV systems, heat pumps, ductwork, hydronic piping, and building automation‑integrated equipment. With a strong focus on quality, safety, and high‑performance building standards, the company supports California’s rapidly expanding commercial construction and modernization market.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install commercial HVAC systems including RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, VRF/VRV systems, heat pumps, and split systems.
  • Install ductwork, sheet metal, flexible duct, diffusers, grilles, and air distribution components.
  • Install hydronic piping, condensate lines, refrigerant piping, insulation, and mechanical supports.
  • Assist with setting equipment, rigging, mounting, and securing HVAC units and mechanical components.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, flaring, swaging, and piping fabrication as required.
  • Install electrical wiring, conduit, disconnects, and control wiring under supervision of licensed personnel.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, piping schematics, and installation instructions.
  • Coordinate with project managers, foremen, electricians, plumbers, and general contractors.
  • Ensure proper airflow, refrigerant line routing, condensate drainage, and equipment clearances.
  • Support system startups, commissioning, and functional testing with senior technicians.
  • Maintain clean and safe job sites, following all OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Document installation progress, material usage, and jobsite conditions.
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, lifts, ladders, and jobsite equipment safely and effectively.
  • Participate in ongoing training, skill development, and HVAC certification programs.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school training in HVAC/R, mechanical systems, or sheet metal preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience installing commercial HVAC systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with ductwork installation, piping, equipment setting, and mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and installation diagrams.
  • Experience with sheet metal tools, power tools, and HVAC installation equipment.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems, refrigeration principles, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, work on ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA 608 Certification (Type I or II) preferred but not required.
  • Experience installing VRF/VRV systems, hydronic systems, or large commercial equipment.
  • Background in commercial construction, mechanical contracting, or design‑build projects.
  • Familiarity with BAS systems such as Tridium Niagara, Metasys, or Siemens Desigo.
  • Sheet metal certifications or HVAC/R trade school credentials.
  • Interest in advancing to HVAC Technician or HVAC Lead Installer roles.
