We are a Dallas, TX mission‑critical engineering and construction staffing agency specializing in recruiting Electrical Project Engineers for hyperscale data centers, colocation facilities, and high‑reliability MEP infrastructure projects.
Our client is a leading data‑center developer and engineering firm supporting large‑scale electrical design, power‑distribution architecture, redundancy planning, commissioning, and construction of Tier III and Tier IV facilities across the DFW metroplex.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design and project execution for hyperscale and enterprise‑class data‑center facilities.
- Develop one‑line diagrams, riser diagrams, and power‑distribution architecture for medium‑voltage and low‑voltage systems.
- Engineer high‑density electrical systems including switchgear, UPS systems, PDU layouts, RPPs, busways, generators, ATS units, STS systems, and redundant A/B power paths.
- Perform load calculations, short‑circuit studies, arc‑flash analysis, selective coordination studies, and fault‑current evaluations.
- Coordinate electrical system requirements with mechanical, cooling, fire protection, structural, and IT/telecom teams.
- Support design of electrical infrastructure for white‑space buildouts, server halls, battery rooms, and critical equipment rooms.
- Review and interpret NEC, NFPA 70, IEEE standards, local Texas building codes, and mission‑critical electrical design guidelines.
- Develop specifications, construction documents, and technical narratives for permitting and owner review.
- Manage electrical contractors, vendors, and integrators throughout construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Support factory witness testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), integrated systems testing (IST), and electrical commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues including grounding faults, harmonics, load imbalances, UPS anomalies, and generator synchronization problems.
- Ensure compliance with Tier III/Tier IV design principles, redundancy requirements, and uptime standards.
- Prepare project schedules, progress reports, and documentation for turnover and operational readiness.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- 8–15+ years of electrical engineering experience in data centers, mission‑critical facilities, or large‑scale MEP projects.
- Expertise with medium‑voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, ATS/STS units, and redundant power architectures.
- Proficiency with SKM Power Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar electrical‑analysis software.
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70, IEEE standards, and mission‑critical design requirements.
- Experience managing electrical contractors, vendors, and commissioning teams.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and MEP coordination documents.
- Strong communication, documentation, and project‑management skills.
- Experience with fast‑track construction schedules and large‑scale data‑center buildouts.
Preferred Qualifications
- PE license in Texas (highly preferred).
- Experience with hyperscale operators (Meta, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.).
- Experience with battery‑storage systems, lithium‑ion UPS, or microgrid integration.
- Familiarity with BIM/Revit, clash detection, and MEP coordination workflows.
- Experience with LEED, energy‑efficiency programs, or sustainability‑driven electrical design.
